Measure your RV’s full height, width, and length, then inspect the storage entrance, turns, and assigned space. Compare access hours, surface, drainage, power availability, security, and contract terms. Confirm insurance responsibilities with the facility and your insurer.
Measure the approach as well as the space
A space can be long enough while the gate or aisle makes it impractical. Include rooftop equipment, mirrors, hitch hardware, and any rear accessories in the measurements. Walk the route and ask about turning space.
Use the same checklist at each facility
Compare covered versus uncovered storage, access hours, power rules, drainage, lighting, emergency contact procedures, and prohibited activities. Ask how the facility handles weather events or access interruptions.
Prepare the rig for the actual storage period
Follow manufacturer guidance for batteries, tires, seals, and seasonal plumbing. Keep a dated checklist and schedule visits to inspect the rig. Do not assume a storage facility will maintain it for you.
